The wonderful, beautiful, elegant Grace Kelly takes one’s breath away in her opening scene of Rear Window.
Dressed in a “fresh from the Paris plane” dress designed by Edith Head, who is unquestionably the most famous movie costume designer of all time.
Kelly wears a full tulle embroidered skirt cinched at the waist with a patent belt worn with a ‘Y’ silhouette top. The whole look pre-dates the Christian Dior ‘Ligne Corolle’ which was showcased by Dior himself in his 1955 collection.
Kelly’s elegance in Rear Window is unrivaled, some of the outfits are displayed at the Victoria and Albert Museum in an exhibit which pays homage to Kelly’s style aptly named ‘Style Icon’ running until the 26th of September.
